Assignment
Goal: To (1) play bass lines with roots and (2) slashes, (3) to read roman numerals and know which chord they correspond to, (4) to transcribe chords, and (5) to compose your own chord progression and bass line
How to Complete the Assignment:
Exercises 1 & 2: Make your own bass line with the harmonic rhythm that is written by playing the root note (the letter or name of the chord). Change notes when the chords change
Exercise 3: Play the root of the chord unless there is a slash. When there is a slash, play the chord to the right of the slash.
Exercise 4 & 5: Play the root of the chord and using the roman numerals to figure out which chord it is
Exercise 6: Write in the roman numerals of the chords and create a bass line for them too. The only chords you need to choose from for this line are I, IV, V and vi. (*Hint: Does not start on the I chord)
Exercise 7: Create your own chord progression and bass line
