BASS LINE WRITING
Goal: To compose bass lines and kick drum rhythms, demonstrating your knowledge of how these two instruments interact
How to Complete the Assignment:
Exercises 1-3: Write out a bass line that matches the rhythm of the kick drum, plays the root of the chord every time the chords change (the harmonic rhythm), and has space between some of the notes by placing rests. Sections 2 and 3 ask to use leading tones
Exercise 4: Write out a bass line and a kick drum rhythm that match and follow the rules for the previous sections. Record the kick drum by hitting your palm against the body of your guitar, and use your finger tips to play the snare. Play the kick drum (your palm) on at least beat one and the snare (your fingertips) on beats 2 and 3
